The adult Passer Angelfish is predominately dark blue with a white vertical stripe extending down from the dorsal fin about two-thirds of the way to the pelvic fin. The dorsal fin is rimmed in yellow. The caudal and pectoral fins are also yellow, while the ventral fins are yellow on the female, and white on the male. The juvenile is orange with one white and multiple blue stripes and spots. It is probably the hardiest of all angels. They eat great, are highly adaptable and are likely to live longer than any angel you will find. Names Common Name: Paser Pygmy Angelfish Other Names: Passer Angel Fish, King Angel Fish Scientific Name: Holocanthus passer Habitat and Care It is a hardy fish, but can become aggressive, so it should be kept with other semi-aggressive tank mates. It grazes on live rock and will nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles, so it is not a good candidate for a reef aquarium. They are quite bold and should not be housed with shy delicate species. It can be kept with other fishes if they are housed in a larger aquarium. May eat some soft corals and nip at large olyped stony corals, zooanthids and clams. Smaller specimens are less risky. Level of Care: Easy Food: Omnivore, grazer, offer sponge based prepared diets and lots of algae. The diet should include vegetable matter such as Spirulina, marine algae, meaty items, and high-quality angelfish preparations which include sponges. Feed at least three times daily. Minimum Tank Size: 80 gallons Natural Origin: Tropical Eastern Pacific Sizes-Approximate: Small-XLarge: 1 - 6 Individuals will vary and may not look identical to the images
