Dogface Pufferfish got its’ name for both its’ appearance as well as the way it behaves. Not normally aggressive with tank mates, this puffer for sale is best suited for a non-reef environment.  Dog face puffer for sale, like other species of pufferfish for sale will eat crustaceans, corals and other invertebrates for snacks. These guys generally have a random combo of darker spots on a colored body.  Their body color ranges in color from browns, grays, yellows and rare black, gold or orange. Normally, it is ok to keep more then one of this species in a marine aquarium.

When frightened or distressed, Pufferfish can inflate over two times it’s original size. Purposely enticing this behavior will eventually cause illness and even death. Provide plenty of live rock to keep teeth worn down or be sure to trim teeth as needed.

Though a dog face may be shy and refusing food on initial introduction, they will end up eating from your hand (be careful!) and spoiled like a dog or cat. Eventually they will even beg for food just as well as any pet dog asking for food from the dinner table. In the wild, Pufferfish tend to be nocturnal hunters and eat in the darker times of the day.

Here at our saltwater fish store, we feed our dog face pufferfish a varied diet consisting of large chunks of meaty foods. These foods include krill, raw table shrimp, squid, clam and mussel. It is also a good idea to occasionally supplement with some type of herbivore diet.
