Description
The Falco Hawkfish get their name from their habit of perching on coral prominences from which they swoop out and snag their prey. They have small tufts of bright yellow on the tips of their dorsal fin ray called cirri. They are also known as the Spotted Hawkfish but should not be mistaken for Cirrhitichthys aprinus. Other species include the Arc eye hawkfish, and the flame hawkfish which is also known as the scarlett hawkfish.
